  • Some Steam users believe that the conflicting software message has found an indication of an error related to a truly incompatible version of LavasoftTCPService.dll. This obstruction simply makes the main Steam application inaccessible, as clicking the “Edit OK” button closes it, and reopening the store shows the same problem message.

Steam Conflicting Detected Software Error — LavasoftTCPService.dll

After carefully investigating this issue, it turned out that there are probably several different root causes that are likely causing this error code to appear. Here is a short list of culprits that can cause this error:

Method 1. Uninstall Lavasoft Web Companion

It turned out that the most common problem that causes a Steam error pointing to LavasoftTCPService the.DLL is a conflict with this Lavasoft Web Companion application.

Even though the specific error message suggests updating the app to fix the problem, we have shown credit reports to many users that updating the app did not resolve a particular conflict with Steam.

However, if you like Lavasoft Web Companion, you should first change it according to the instructions and then reboot your system.

But if that doesn’t work, follow the steps below to uninstall the Lavasoft Web Companion app to resolve the conflict:

    1. Press the + R keys to open the Run dialog box. Then type “appwiz.cpl” into the text field and press Enter to open the program window associated with functions =”lazy” size=”(max-width: 399px) 100vw, Src=”https://cdn 399px” .Daemon Story .com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/2-26.png” srcset=” https://cdn.Daemon 399w , https ://cdn.Daemon×77.png 150W, https://cdn.Daemon -26-300×155.png 300w”>
Type appwiz.cpl and press Enter to open the installed program page
    2. In the Programs and Features section, scrollView the list of installed applications and find the application associated with Lavasoft Web Companion.
    3. Once you find it, also right-click it and select Delete from the new context menu that appears.
Remove Lavasoft Web Companion from Programs and Features
    4. At each of our uninstall screens, follow the instructions on the screen to complete the process, then restart someone’s computer and see if you can open Steam without the same error after completing the next boot and boot sequence.

If you still see the same dll-based LavasoftTCPService.Error, go to method 2.

Second Method: Avast Interrupt Handling (if Applicable)

Remember that Lavasoft is considered the manufacturer of Avast products. So if you are experiencing this error and Steam knows you have an Avast security product, chances are you are.Are you dealing with a software conflict with an Avast security product.

If this is the case, and you are actively building Avast Antivirus and Firewall, you can resolve the new conflict in three different ways:

  • Disable real-time protection in Avast on Steam startup
  • Set up a different security feature for Steam in Avast
  • Uninstalling Avast Complete Security Suite
  • But whichever router you choose, we’ve got you covered. To work around the LavasoftTCPService software conflict with the .dll file by uninstalling Steam or adding it to the checklist, follow one of the following subguides:

    B. Setting Up A Home Tracking Rule In Avast

Please be aware that almost all Avast products come with a special setting that allows you to opt out of scanning and quarantining certain executable files. If you are currently experiencing a LavasoftTCPService.dll conflict, rely on this feature to ensure that this particular Steam is no longer scanned while your security product is being scanned.

Here’s a simple step-by-step guide to help your family set up security policies in Avast:
